  1. Hi all

Right I'll just start talking then!
This is my first attemt at a blog and I gather I just say what ever comes into my head and keep everyone entertained and updated on Bohemians doings so here we go...

Firstly I'll just do a bit of a recap to get us up to date.Kevin started the whole thing off in 1996 but I joined in 2004 about six years ago now. We've grown it all a bit since then. Effectively in 2004 we were a pub band. We were musically ok but we needed to develop a lot in every direction. Fast forward six years and we are now a theatre act. Musically very strong and with a very convincing stage set. We got the baby grand first and sort of kept building everything up from there.
Now we have a two hour theatre show we can be truly proud of; lights, staging, pyros, back projections, the lot.

The upshot is we have a shed load of theatre gigs lined up for next year and we're looking to the future with confidence & a lot of excitement.

Rhodes Rock as well next June. Hurrah! Off to Greece for a week's paid holiday Yeehah!
I do like Greece and Lindos looks lovely. We're honoured to be a part of the festival and actually I'm really looking forward to watching someone else do some of the work for a change! Can't beat a good Floyd tribute so I'm especially looking forward to Think Floyd on the Tuesday.I'm only sorry we won't see Limehouse Lizzy cos we're replacing them on the bill! Still I think we have a double bill with them next year elsewhere so that's ok then.

Nick's decision to retire in June was a bit of a blow at first (He has retired to his mansion in Sundridge gawd bless him) but we've fallen on our feet with the arrival of a certain Mr Christopher Gregory esquire who has now assumed guitar duties. Finding a replacement very tall guitarist with big hair is not that straight forward an affair as I'm sure you can imagine but we were a bit jammy in that we'd already worked with Chris on a couple of foreign shows and when we asked him to come in as a replacement he was happy to join us.
Chris is a welcome addition to the band. He's a geezer! Essex boy, very energetic, never shuts up!, a breath of fresh air to the band. Most importantly he's a top guitarist and a handy harmony singer into the bargain. Chris I salute you mate.

Now then. This opening salvo of a blog is so vast an all encompassing that I need to split it into rwo parts! part two to follow immediately.

  2. Blog part two!

We've got a lot of options musically now which is nice for me as defacto musical director.
Nick tended to be quite cautious and thus we stuck rigidly to the hits. That's sensible for the most part but to keep things fresh it's never a bad idea to inject a few lesser known tracks into the equation. Don't worry we'll always do the big hits but we reckon in the course of a two hour show, one or two album tracks won't hurt. For example, recently we've played 39, Love of my life and Lap of the gods revisited, all of which have gone down pretty well.
It makes a change to suddenly see Wayne loom at the front of the stage (or is that loon at the front of the stage?!)banging on a bass drum for 39. People like something a bit different sometimes.
So if, like us, you're a fan of the albums there's always going to be a nice little surprise for you somewhere. Currently we're working on Death on two legs and Seaside rendevous.(haven't decided who gets the kazoo solo yet. You think I'm joking?) Plenty of others in the pipeline as well. You'll notice we like the older stuff, notably a Night at the Opera. That's probably because we gravitate that way due to me playing the piano parts. Anyway you should hear Chris' playing on some of these songs. Brighton Rock is another work in progress and he's got it nailed! Talented geezer as I said.
Don't tell him though he'll be insufferable!
He's a bit of a whizz on the harmoniser too which has added another dimension.
So anyway,we've got plenty to look forward to.
Another idea is a little nineties section. At the moment, from the last three albums we only have I want it all and sometimes the Show must go on. We will be expanding that into a nineties mini set before long with a costume change and more additions from the later albums. There are of course, lots to choose from. Breakthru, Days of our lives, Headlong etc. So that's another work in progress.
We don't want to over egg the pudding though and make the whole thing too unwieldy. Our strength is in the pace and excitement of the set.We like to retain the blood and thunder of the Queen live shows. They may have been responsible for many poptastic creations but Queen were first and foremost a rock band and we never forget that.
Right, I think I've rambled on enough for now. I hope you have found my ramblings interesting I will now take my leave in order to avoid over egging the blogging...
    Speak again soon

  3. Hi Rob
It's Eddie here from RhodesRock. We are so pleased to have you guys on board & there's a real buzz going round amongst regular RhodesRockers about The Bohemians coming to Lindos with many of them pencilling in dates to come & see you when you are in their area. Our Greek friends are looking forward to seeing you too. You'll love Lindos. It's a life changing place as Pink Floyd first discovered in the early 70's. They bought houses there & continued to visit for many, many years, making lots of friends amongst the locals. Our spiritual home in Lindos, Socrates Bar, plays classic rock non stop & once you've been there you'll never be the same again !!
See you in Tamworth next week !

  4. Greetings Eddie & Elaine!

I'm glad the Rhodes Rockers are up for a bit of Queen next year. We're certainly up for it and I reckon we'll all have a blast. As I said we are honoured to be asked and are delighted to come. On a personal note,Tracy and I love Greece anyway. More often than not we holiday on Kefalonia so it will be especially enjoyable for us. We can't wait to sample the pleasures of Lindos. Added to that I'm a huge Floyd fan as well so all the various Pink Floyd connections and Think Floyd, not to mention all the other great acts, will make it all the more enjoyable. We're all really looking forward to June and in the meantime to having a good old chinwag with you at the Snowdome on Saturday.

    See you there!

    Rob
